The Cleanup Network

Our participant network includes marinas throughout the Great Lakes and surrounding waterways, as well as sites that are part of affiliated initiatives across Canada.

Explore our Marina Portal below to view more information about our participant sites, including litter profiles for marinas at which "deep dive" litter analyses have been carried out.

The Great Lakes Plastic Cleanup launched with cleanup and capture devices installed in 11 marinas thanks to the support of Environment and Climate Change Canada.

With the support of Ontario's Ministry of the Environment, Conservation and Parks, cleanup and capture devices are being installed in 10 marinas across the province.

Marinas with their own capture and cleanup devices are joining us to share their findings, contribute to our research, and help get the word out about the importance of keeping plastic out of our waterways.

Diversion 2.0

Georgian Bay Forever became a collaborator on the Great Lakes Plastic Cleanup in 2020. Their Diversion 2.0 initiative is installing not only Seabins, but also gutter bins and trash traps, and generating data to help us better understand plastic pollution in Georgian Bay.

The Vancouver Plastic Cleanup

The Vancouver Plastic Cleanup coalition follows in the footsteps of the GLPC, installing litter capture devices and collecting data at sites in Vancouver.
